If you are not doing anything special this weekend – now you are!

The Buried Village has its annual FREE open weekend for residents and visitors.
Yesterday, 10th June, was a commemorative service for the Mt Tarawera eruption – I always wonder how warm the survivors were while they were waiting for the ash to clear. Probably very chilly!

Pam and Margaret at the Buried Village have invited me to be one of their several interactive displays during the weekend. So I will be there making creams and ointments with herbs and NZ native plants on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

If you are a local and haven't been there for a while, come and have a look around – there is always something new each year.  Or why don’t you come out with a friend and enjoy a cup of coffee and bite to eat in the cafe?  Hope to see you there!

Those annoying Mothers Day ads....
Public holidays and anniversaries are a joy for some, but trigger painful memories for others. Here are my thoughts...
If you’re younger, its time to stop and think about how much care and attention your mum gives to you every day. You may not even notice all the little things she does for you!
If you’re the man in her life, its time to show her how much you love and appreciate her womanly ways. If you’re older, and your mum is no longer with us, then Mothers Day is a time to remember your own growing up and acknowledge the skills you have learned from your mum and practiced on others. Even if you are not  “officially” a mum, you may have “fur children” or even “plant children” who need every bit of your care and attention. So get them to buy you a gift to thank you too! I think its all about acknowledging the feminine within—the qualities of caring, nurturing and mothering with which women are so naturally gifted.

Happy Mothers Day from Carol Bannister : Careem Wellness Spa—where caring comes naturally!

So what do you think?
